Dolabedi refers to a distinctive type of handwoven silk saree from Odisha, India, named after a Dola (swing) and a bedi (platform) which are featured in its intricate pallu (the decorative end piece). These sarees are known for their vibrant colors, intricate designs that include motifs like chariots, turtles, and fish, and the contrast between a simple, plain body and a richly decorated pallu. The name is inspired by the Dola Utsav, a festival where deities are taken on swings.
